Dog trainer Jena Weiss is the creator of Capital Dog Training. Originally from New York City, she grew up among artists in lower Manhattan. Working professionally with animals since 1987, Jena turned her lifelong love of dogs into a career in 1995, and began helping people have better relationships with their dogs.
She has a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science from The University of Connecticut, is a graduate of The U.S. K-9 Academy, and is a Professional level member of the International Association of Canine Professionals.
In addition to being a dog trainer, Jena worked as a Pet Therapy Associate at the CT Humane Society, and evaluated dogs for entry into Hartford Hospital’s Pet Therapy Program in CT. She volunteered there with her Certified Pet Therapy Dog, Shane, and they visited patients together from 2004 - 2013. She has also participated in studies on dog intelligence at Yale University.
After training dogs for more than two decades on the East Coast, she is now devoted full time to her clients on the West Coast and personally trains dogs in Los Angeles, Malibu, and Palm Springs, CA.
